Solar project development
Support across the complete solar project development cycle.
Solar projects move through a series of distinct development stages, from the initial definition of the opportunity through to commissioning and handover to the operator. Akuity can support the full development cycle or provide targeted specialist support at the stage where a developer needs it most.

Project inception & initial scoping
Define the project opportunity, objectives, location, preliminary scope, key stakeholders and the initial technical, commercial and delivery considerations.

Pre-feasibility & project definition
Undertake an early assessment of the site, energy requirement, development constraints, project concept and the information needed to determine whether the opportunity should proceed to full feasibility.

Feasibility study
Assess the technical, financial, regulatory, environmental and implementation viability of the proposed project and develop the evidence required for an informed investment decision.

Development, approvals & project preparation
Support the project through the required development activities, stakeholder engagement, approvals, project structuring, implementation planning and preparation for procurement and financing.

Procurement & sourcing
Support the sourcing of equipment, materials and specialist services, including supplier assessment and coordination of procurement requirements with the approved project design and delivery plan.

Implementation, construction & commissioning
Provide project-management and technical support during delivery, coordinating progress, quality, risks, contractors and commissioning activities against the agreed scope.

Handover to the operator
Support final acceptance, documentation, knowledge transfer, operational readiness and the structured handover of the completed project to the organisation responsible for operating it.
Flexible engagement
A developer may require support for the whole lifecycle or only for a specific stage — for example, a feasibility study, procurement and material sourcing, project management, or handover. The scope can therefore be structured around the needs of each project.

A multidisciplinary consultancy.
Established in Uganda in 2024, Akuity Technical Solution Company Limited provides strategic, institutional and technical advisory support to organisations across the public, private and development sectors in East Africa and beyond.
The team combines experience in engineering, law, environmental management, economics, finance, research, project management, policy, human resources, architecture, ICT and public health.
This is supported by specialist knowledge in areas including energy and utility regulation, Public-Private Partnerships, governance, risk management, ESG, climate change, regulatory analysis and organisational development.

Joseph Otogo
FounderJoseph Otogo brings professional experience across the energy and power sector, with particular expertise in electricity regulation, transmission policy, regional power markets and energy access.
He contributes this specialist knowledge directly to Akuity assignments, including work with regional institutions and international partners on transmission policy, power-market development and energy access.
Dr. Sarah Wasagali Kanaabi
Lead ConsultantDr. Sarah Wasagali Kanaabi brings more than 30 years of experience across economics, energy regulation, governance, research, academia and institutional leadership.
She holds a PhD in Economics and an MA in Economic Policy and Planning from Makerere University. Her experience includes economic and regulatory analysis, corporate governance, energy-sector transition, enterprise risk management, Public-Private Partnerships, stakeholder engagement and institutional development.

What does Akuity Technical Solution do?
Akuity is a multidisciplinary consultancy providing strategy and project advisory, research and policy, training and organisational development, technical and sustainability solutions, and full-lifecycle solar project development.
Where is Akuity based, and where do you work?
The company is registered in Uganda, with its office in Entebbe. Work is delivered in Uganda, across East Africa — including Kenya and Mozambique — and with international partners, in-country or remotely.
Can an organisation outside Uganda engage Akuity?
Yes. Development partners, regional institutions, consortia and overseas organisations regularly need East African regulatory, energy, training or project expertise. Enquiries can be sent by the form or email; please include your country so we can plan delivery and time zone.
Which languages do you work in?
English is the working language for reports and delivery. Enquiries are also welcome in French and Portuguese. State your preferred language on the contact form and we will respond accordingly where we can.
